Bio
Darcy Halber is a communications professional with over 15 years of experience in public relations, specializing in media relations. She has served as the media relations officer for the Calgary Homeless Foundation, where she played a crucial role in spearheading special projects aimed at bringing attention to the issue of homelessness. One such project was the Client Action Committee (CAC). Comprised of individuals who have experienced or were currently experiencing homelessness, this committee played a crucial role in advocating for the rights and needs of the homeless community. The CAC, in partnership with Elections Alberta, played a key role in the implementation of Canada's first polling station in a homelessness shelter, empowering individuals experiencing homelessness to exercise their democratic rights while also highlighting the importance of inclusion and accessibility in shaping public policy.
Currently, Darcy serves as the Executive Director of the Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association (ARJAA), a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing restorative principles to the City of Abbotsford. In her leadership role, she continues to champion equitable and compassionate solutions to social issues, fostering a culture of empathy and understanding within the community.
